July 13, 2007: Jesus H Christ!! I haven't updated the site in over a year!! Well, to be honest, there's not been much to report in the last year.
We did perform "Unalone" in Amsterdam at a strange party a few months back (more on our "Myspace" page)
Luckily that's changing as real work has begun on the new album, tentatively titled "Separation Anxiety". If all goes according to plan, it will be quite a production.
Instead of doing the home-studio sample thing, we're trying to get "real musicians" (remember those??) to supplement the songs - drummers, bassists,
cellists, violinists....and it will be recorded in several different countries! The demos so far are quite dark, sad yet beautiful songs and it will be interesting to see how they flesh out. They are so
sad in fact, that they can't be worked on for too long or we get too depressed! ;-) If all goes well (which it usually doesn't), the album should be out early next
year. We may upload some "works in progress on Myspace, so check there now and then if you dare (damn you, Rupert Murdoch!)
May 7, 2006: By popular demand, a few tracks from Ala's old group The Catherines
are available on the downloads page! Thanks to Myspace,
this website is getting creaky, so check there for news and updates....it looks
like Rupert Murdoch's plan to control all information is slowly becoming a reality!
*gasp*.....by the way, one of our fave bands, Secret
Shine, has reformed and is playing in London at shoegazing Club
AC30/Water Rats Theatre on July 21. We're going and if you can, so should
you! I have a strange feeling this will be the inspirational spark needed to
finish (read BEGIN!) work on the second album! OK, we do have a swirly Monkees
cover (Porpoise Song) almost done, but that's not nearly enough ;-) September 21, 2005: BOUDOIR has joined the world of
MYSPACE. If you're a member of that online community, feel free to add us
as friends. A few tunes from the first album are available to stream from the
site as well. August 15, 2005: One of our favourite bands, SECRET SHINE, recently reformed,
but tragically, their drummer, Tim Morris, had an accident and passed away.
As a homage, they recorded some of their songs in acoustic form and released
it as "Morris". All proceeds
from this CD go to Tim's favourite charity, Medicins
sans Frontieres It's sad that in this world, so many good people with good
hearts are taken away, while so many bad ones remain.
April 28, 2005: Due to scheduling conflicts, we won't be playing the Leipzig
Festival.
February 15, 2005: We've dug up the first BOUDOIR recording and put it on the
downloads page. It's a cover of the SUNDAYS song "My
Finest Hour" and was recorded for a cassette-only SUNDAYS tribute release in
1998. If you listen closely, Ala is asking for pizza-delivery status at end
of song ;-) We'll also be adding a few SMITTEN songs to the download page soon.
AND....we are currently negotiating some shows for 2005, so check the live
pages now and then.
December 31, 2004: We are very happy to see that Nick at CRUSH FM has placed
BOUDOIR's album at NUMBER 1 in his TOP 10 list for 2004. We've made a few Top
10 lists this year so thanks to everyone for their support! If you still don't
have the album (NAUGHTY YOU!!!!), you can now order it in America at our favourite
mailorder company Tonevendor. They will
even include a cute postcard and maybe more with your order! In Europe, it's
available at Pandaimonium Records We
recently spent some time in the US to get some medical treatment for Ala's ailment,
and things are looking much better (literally). We hope soon to be able to perform
live and begin work on the second album! Thanks to everyone who sent "get well"
mails, and we wish EVERYONE a HAPPY NEW YEARRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!
April 26, 2004: Damon and Ala will be interviewed on ENSCHEDE
FM's CRUSH show. You can listen online Wednesday April 28 at 22:00 CET.
April 17, 2004: Dreamhouse Radio in Greece has listed "Currency of the Soul"
in their Top 10 albums of the month, placed at Number Two! Also, lots of kind
words coming in from Italy, France and Germany. If you see a review, or make
a review, please send it to us! April 15, 2004: Unfortunately, we will be unable to perform live in the near
future as our lovely chanteuse Ala is suffering from a strange semi-long-term
illness which has left half of her face frozen (Bal's Palsy). Oddly enough,
it began almost the same week as the release of the album! So until a full recovery
begins to manifest itself, we will not be booking any live perfomances :-( Any
get-well sympathy emails for her are appreciated as it's a pretty awful state
of affairs. February 20, 2004: The reviews are coming in and we're very happy with the
response! Look for articles and reviews in the recent issues of Zillo, Orkus,
Sonic Seducer and D-Side. Also, our track "Unalone" is featured on the accompanying
Zillo compilation CD and "Sweet Storm" is included on the Sonic Seducer CD!
January 28, 2004: The new album, titled "Currency Of The Soul" is out now on
Pandaimonium Records in Europe. Tracklist
is: Unalone, Maybe Yesterday, Last Try, Sweet Storm, Disfigured and Forgotten,
Close Your Eyes, Sleepyhead, Floating, Space Jam, and What Do I Get? (an ethereal
Buzzcocks cover!). You can order now from Pandaimonium or in the UK at Music
NonStop. Or if you type in Boudoir Currency Soul into Google, you'll get
loads of options for ordering from various parts of the world. April 23, 2003: Damon was interviewed on the radio program CRUSH in Enschede,
the Netherlands about BOUDOIR and JESUS COMPLEX. . September 21, 2002: BOUDOIR made its premiere live European performance at
the illustrious Gotham Festival at the
Paradiso in Amsterdam. Despite our early performance time as the festival openers,
a lot of people filled the room up and gave us a wonderful response. Thanks
to everyone who came and made our first European performance such a memorable
event! There are loads of photos from the performance
HERE May 1, 2002: "SPACEJAM" was released in Europe on the
Pandaimonium Records sampler
"Songs of Pain" .
